Capital Cities Quiz

Flags get the glory. Capitals are the unglamorous half of the same atlas. This capital cities quiz asks for the seat, not the cloth.

A capital cities quiz belongs next to a flag quiz because the two mistakes rhyme. People who mix Ireland with Côte d'Ivoire also mix Yamoussoukro with Abidjan. People who know Pretoria still type Cape Town. Flag Drill’s capital board uses the same 193 UN members, the same four-choice layout, the same twenty-second look, and the same local best scores. One round names the capital for a country; keep drilling and the next round may flip the prompt so a city has to find its state.

The dataset is opinionated in the way atlases are. Netherlands is Amsterdam. South Africa is Pretoria. Bolivia is Sucre. Sri Lanka is Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte. Tanzania is Dodoma. Côte d'Ivoire is Yamoussoukro. Where a country keeps several capitals for different branches of government, the quiz uses the conventional short answer an adult trivia table would accept, documented in the vendored file rather than fetched live. Include territories if you want Nuuk, Hagåtña, and Road Town in the mix — again, labeled as extras, not UN members.

Play starts immediately. Keys 1–4 select answers. A miss prints the country, capital, and region so the round still teaches. There is no hint store, no second-chance gem, and no claim that a fast time means anything about memory health. It is a drill. If you want the flag in the same sitting, open Flag Quiz in another tab. If a pair of flags keep stealing your attention from the city names, read Similar Flags and then come back.

Scores never leave the browser. Flag Drill ships without ads and without analytics pixels in this version. Credit for flags and for the ISO / UN membership source is on the About page.
